St. James' 1st Simcoe Beavers meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30, at Hambleton Hall. We have a 5:1 ratio of youth (aged 5 to 7) to leaders.

Our emphasis is on cooperative activities, which encourage the children to develop a sense of belonging and sharing in small groups, an appreciation of nature, finding examples of God's love for them and the world around them, experiences of love and joy and an opportunity to express themselves.

Our weekly meetings begin with a gathering activity of colouring, word searches, or a game of tag. When everyone has arrived at the pond, we open our meeting with a riverbank ceremony shouting our motto: "Sharing Sharing Sharing." We play games, usually followed by a craft, and close with: "Good Night Beavers and busy building tomorrow."

We stress the importance of helping one another with our 7 year old "White Tails" aiding with cutting or explaining the rules of games to our 5 year old "Brown Tails."  Our 6 year old "Blue Tails" help set up our river, bring Big Brown Beaver to our opening, and passing out wood chips to feed Big Brown.

Registration costs are determined by Scouts Canada and paid upon registration. Monthly $5 dues (paid the first of each month) offset material and outing costs.

The Leadership team attempt to book one outing a month. Parent help is always appreciated and anyone interested in being a part of the Leadership team is welcome.
